For members of Studium Generale of Sociëteit De Vergenoeging in Middelburg, I will give a lecture on portrait art. I will discuss the possibilities and limitations of the materials available to artists throughout the centuries, as well as painting techniques. After the break, I will talk about the history of the painted portrait. For example, who were the patrons and the sitters? Various artists, patrons, styles, and my own work will be discussed.
